The Futility of Trying to Measure Up
This session continues the movement from endurance to enjoyment by addressing one of the quiet traps of the Christian life: the need to measure ourselves.
Scripture Focus
Galatians 3:3
"Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?"

A. Living from, not living up to
Many believers begin their Christian life by grace, but somewhere along the way they switch systems. They start by receiving, but continue by performing. Faith quietly shifts from living from what God has given to living up to what they think God expects.
Measuring ourselves against standards, other believers, or an ideal version of faith always leads to fatigue. Life in Christ was never meant to be sustained by self‑assessment. It is sustained by trust.
B. Surrendered, not striving
Striving often disguises itself as dedication. But striving is usually fear‑based. It fears falling short, being exposed, or disappointing God.
Surrender, on the other hand, trusts that what God began by His Spirit He will also complete by His Spirit. Growth does not come from trying harder, but from yielding more deeply. The Christian life is not advanced by pressure, but by dependence.

C. Delighted in, not just delivered
Many believers know they are saved, but few live as though they are enjoyed. Deliverance is often understood; delight is often missed.
When we believe God merely tolerates us, we strive to earn His approval. When we know He delights in us, we begin to live freely. Freedom grows not from being constantly evaluated, but from being securely loved.
A Song to Sit With This Week
This Post Script is accompanied by a song that reflects the truth that our relationship with God is not built on measurement, but on grace.
You may like to listen to the song this week and allow it to reinforce what Scripture already declares — that you are not striving to be accepted, but learning to live from acceptance.
