Living Free from Fear of Losing God’s Love

This session addresses one of the deepest anxieties in the Christian life — the fear that God’s love might be lost through failure — and replaces it with assurance grounded in Scripture.

Scripture Focus

Romans 8:38–39

"For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

A. Nothing can separate us from God’s love

Fear often exaggerates fragility.

Scripture speaks with clarity and confidence: nothing in creation has the authority to sever us from God’s love in Christ. This assurance rests not on human consistency, but on God’s unchanging character.

When separation is removed as a possibility, security takes root.

God’s love holds fast regardless of circumstance.

B. We can’t earn more love

Performance subtly distorts love into a reward.

Scripture dismantles this idea by presenting love as complete rather than incremental. God does not love us more when we succeed or less when we struggle.

Effort may shape maturity, but it does not increase affection.

Rest comes when love is received rather than pursued.

C. We can’t do anything to lose His love

Fear often assumes that failure has the final word.

Grace declares otherwise. God’s love is not fragile or conditional, and it is not withdrawn when weakness appears.

This does not minimise sin — it magnifies grace.

Freedom grows when love is trusted to remain.

A Song to Sit With This Week

This session is paired with a song that reflects assurance, peace, and trust.

As you listen, allow it to reinforce this truth:
God’s love is secure.
Fear no longer defines the relationship.
